During the creation of this piece, I was reminded of a time in my life that I met a medicine man who shared his experience with the desert and how it changed his life forever. He told me that within many cultures the desert is known for its spiritual properties and healing nature that have led many people on a vision quest to enlightenment. Symbolically he said it was a place associated with death but also great transformation that invites us to go deep inside the vulnerable places and let go of what we find. It was the vast openness that encouraged quite introspection and muted beauty that inspires contemplation, growth and change. His story was of self-reflection and how he was forced to face the most vulnerable deepest parts, letting go of everything he thought he knew. It was a powerful journey to heal toxic patterns and karmic cycles so he could move forward with awareness and enlightenment. It was a story that I will never forget that taught me how important it is for self-reflection, to focus on the things we need to let go of, and to forgive ourselves so that we may raise our vibration and heal with love and light.
