Meditation Lamp

This lamp was inspired by creating a functional piece of art from a mask that was altered in the firing process. When the mask was retrieved from the kiln, the top half of the mask was cleanly severed leaving a clean line and a circular impression where there was once a crescent moon feature. Knowing this piece still had a purpose, I waited until the vision became clear as to where it belonged and what would become of it. When I placed the crystal ball in the middle of the the impression and saw that it fit perfectly, I could envision the light beaming from above and radiating a calming, peaceful energy. It is a reminder, that meditation is the journey from sound to silence, from movement to stillness, from a limited identity to unlimited space.
