The wood, which has collapsed at the top, is a representation of the cycle of life that is on the fringe of destruction. The salmon, representing life, must make the leap of faith to unite with spirit so balance can be restored; connecting back to the eternal cycle of life.
The time has come in which we must open our eyes to the destruction that is happening all around us. To awaken and realize we are destroying ourselves and the one thing that gives us life, our planet.  The natural balance of life is on the fringe of extinction.  The time is now.  Together as a whole, like the salmon, we must take a collective leap of faith; restoring balance back to the eternal cycle of life.

Nestled in Eagle River Valley in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, lies a little place called Malakwa. It was there I was given this large beautiful gift of cedar which became the inspiration behind the creation of this piece. The shape and flow of the wood spoke to me.  A vision of water within the natural grain of the wood, I could see a silhouette of a fish.  It was then the vision was born and its story unfolded.
